XOP holds closely to a biblical understanding of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, Humans, Salvation, Eternity, and the Church.

What we believe about….

God: We believe that God exists as one nature in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. He created all things by His power. We believe He is all powerful, all knowing, and ever present.

Jesus: We believe Jesus is the Son of God, an equal part of the Holy Trinity. Jesus is God and became an earthly man. He lived a sinless life but was crucified and died a criminal’s death. This death paid the debt of all mankind. After three days of being dead He was resurrected showing His power over sin and death. We believe He has ascended into heaven and sits at His Father’s side. He intercedes for His people and will return.

The Holy Spirit: We believe the Holy Spirit is an equal part of the Holy Trinity. He is present in the world to show people their need of Jesus, and lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He empowers His people to understand His word, to live according to His will, and guides them in doing what is right.

The Bible: We believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God. We believe it was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. God’s word is perfect and has been preserved by God for His people to know Him and be an authoritative guide for His church.

Humans: We believe each person has been created in the spiritual image of God. Humans are the supreme object of God’s creation. Each human has become unholy by disobedience toward God. This attitude of sin has separated people from God.

Salvation: We believe salvation is a gift given from God. No man can earn a right to salvation through works. We believe that anyone can be saved if they turn from a self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith.

Eternity: We believe each person will exist for eternity in either Heaven or Hell. Although each person deserves everlasting punishment for their sin, those who believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior will escape this punishment and reside with Him in heaven forever. We believe these are real places that people will spend eternity in.

Church: We believe a church is a local body of baptized believers who have agreed together to worship Jesus Christ, edify the believers, evangelize the lost and minister to others. We believe church attendance and participation is necessary to obediently follow Christ. We believe that Jesus is Head of the Universal Church and will not let anything conquer it.

Our Philanthropy is Neighborhood Life House in Joplin. Life House provides a safe place for school-age students in the Joplin area to come after school and interact with friends. We support them through different avenues such as fundraising, donations, and volunteer work. We send our members weekly to Life House to lead the kids in a bible study and be their friend when they may not have one.
